The Indigenous Centre of Acknowledgment & Reconciliation
The Indigenous Centre of Acknowledgment & Reconciliation is located at 100 Wellington Street in Ottawa. The centre sits axial to the Canadian parliament hill buildings. This is a space that highlights the importance of Indigenous Canadians to our countries foundation, to its past and future. The centre honours Indigenous Canadian culture and brings people together through a Place of Welcome, Place of Knowledge, and Place of Memory.
Place of Welcome
The Historic 100 Wellington building was transformed to become a place of welcoming to all. The front entrance leads into an outdoor courtyard and a new accessible entry way for all guests

Place of Knowledge
Occupying two levels of the centre the place of knowledge focuses on key elements of the Indigenous Canadian culture. Light up acrylic walls display different history to the visitors, the walls light up with the press of a button on the floor.

Place of Memory
The place of memory is an acknowledgment to the victims of the Residential School System. Twenty Eight Hundred children were killed over the duration of the system, in this room hangs twenty eight hundred jingles engraved with “you are remembered”. The floor plate of the room is engraved with the “remember” in the seventy different Indigenous Canadian languages.
